12-week Full Wheel Throwing Course

About this course

The course develops wheel-throwing skills progressively, beginning with clay wedging, studio safety and centring before moving into cylinders, bowls, wall control and trimming. Participants practise shaping and refining forms, including adding foot rings, rather than moving rapidly between techniques. Later sessions introduce handle pulling, slip decoration and sgraffito, alongside wider forms and personal projects. The tutor provides individual guidance on participants’ work, with final sessions focused on trimming, tidying foot rings and preparing pieces for the kiln.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for complete beginners as well as returning students. Its beginner level and extended wheel-only format allow substantial repetition of foundational techniques, while tutor guidance also supports personal projects.
