Acting for Camera

About this course

Participants work collaboratively with a tutor-director on television, film, commercial and corporate scripts across different genres. Drama exercises introduce differences between stage and screen acting, while prepared material is developed through rehearsal and filmed for review. The class examines screen acting terminology, camera shots, and the physical, emotional and intellectual elements of on-screen performance. Learners watch and discuss recorded work, analyse techniques and identify areas for development, supported by regular tutor feedback. Some additional tasks or materials may be provided online.

Is this course right for you?

The course is labelled Improver and is intended for learners developing beyond fundamental acting techniques, although the provider lists no formal entry requirements. Some acting experience is recommended. Participation includes collaborative exercises, script rehearsal, filming, discussion and preparation outside class.

Before you go

• Bring a notebook, pencil, eraser and pen.
• Wear loose clothing suitable for an acting class.

• Class activities may be photographed or filmed for learning and possible college publicity. Learners can confirm or decline consent.
