Blues Guitar Fingerpicking

About this course

The course explores blues fingerpicking through demonstrations, listening assignments, talks, note-taking and practical workshops. Participants work on 12-bar arrangements, steady thumb-led bass patterns and blues licks, including phrases shaped by chord knowledge. The class also introduces improvisation while maintaining a rhythm. Learning includes group work and in-class performances, with an initial introduction and assessment used to establish the starting point.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improver-level guitarists with some acoustic or electric guitar experience, including familiarity with songs, chords and scales. Learners should be prepared to take part in group work and performances, and to complete weekly assignments and prepare tunes between classes.
