Ceramics Focus: Make your own Tableware, Intermediates and Mixed Levels

About this course

Participants develop tableware by considering the relationship between material, form, function and decoration. The course introduces historical and contemporary approaches to tableware, alongside demonstrations of construction and decorating techniques. Beginners practise basic ceramic construction methods, while intermediate learners explore more advanced making and decorating techniques through individual projects. Teaching includes tutor guidance, group and individual discussions, and access to a range of resources.

Is this course right for you?

The course is open to complete beginners and intermediate learners. Beginners can develop foundational construction skills, while those with more experience can work on individual projects using advanced making and decorating techniques. Some activities, including wedging clay, require a moderate level of physical fitness.

• Learners with back problems or other concerns about physical activity can discuss guidance or assistance with the tutor.
