Classical Guitar 2A

About this course

The course develops classical guitar technique through scales, arpeggios, slurs and exercises for right-hand finger independence and left-hand coordination. Participants practise beginner-level solo repertoire, work on rhythm, phrasing, tone and expressive playing, and develop reading in treble clef and first position. Teaching takes place through weekly group lessons or small ensemble sessions, supported by guided repertoire practice, rhythmic exercises, and listening and discussion of classical guitar recordings. The course also introduces foundational musical forms and stylistic elements.

What you'll learn

• Perform beginner-level classical guitar pieces with accurate rhythm and tone

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for intermediate learners who have completed a beginner classical guitar course or have equivalent experience. Participants should be able to read treble-clef music and play simple melodies and chords in first position. Lessons involve group or small ensemble work, alongside regular individual practice between sessions.

• Regular home practice of 20–30 minutes per day is expected

Before you go

• Bring a nylon-string classical guitar in good playing condition.
• Bring a footstool or guitar support.
• Bring the music book specified by the tutor, which may include beginner solo repertoire.
• Bring a notebook and pencil.
