About this course

The course develops classical guitar technique through melody playing, legato, chordal accompaniment, scales and arpeggios. Participants extend their fretboard knowledge to the 12th fret and study music from Classical, Spanish, Baroque, Latin and English folk traditions. Teaching combines playing and practice as a group with analysis of study pieces and opportunities to perform solo for the class. Work includes both solo and ensemble repertoire, with attention to left- and right-hand technique and more polished musical expression.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for improvers who have completed Classical guitar level 3 or developed equivalent skills. Participants should already be able to read notation to at least the fifth fret and play both melodies and chords. Group playing is combined with individual opportunities to play to the class, and practice between sessions is expected.
