About this course

The course introduces drawing through a gradual progression from mark-making and basic shapes to more complex studies. Participants work from art, direct observation and imagination while examining line, planes, tonal values, texture, perspective, space and composition. Sessions combine tutor demonstrations with individual guidance, and include opportunities to show work for feedback from the tutor and other learners. The course also considers how drawing can be used to understand, record and express ideas, with scope for participants to pursue their own subject interests.

What you'll learn

  • Use line, mark-making and basic shapes in observational drawing
  • Apply tonal values, texture, perspective and composition
