About this course
The course extends drumming techniques, rudiments and coordination studies from earlier levels while introducing a broader range of styles, including Jazz, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian music. Learners develop their reading and apply drum-chart skills in playing contexts. Teaching combines verbal guidance, demonstrations, group practice, individual work, discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Learners also perform for the class and receive regular, detailed tutor feedback.

Is this course right for you?
This intermediate course is intended for drummers with at least two years’ experience, or equivalent abilities in common groove patterns, established styles and basic chart reading. Participation includes both group and individual practice, discussion and performing in front of the class.
- Entry is based on completing Levels 1 and 2 or demonstrating equivalent skills
- Regular practice between lessons is essential
- Learners should be prepared to play at high volume levels

- Earplugs are strongly encouraged because the instrument and course content may involve high volume levels.
- A notepad and pen are optional.
