About this course
The course introduces the ten-hole diatonic harmonica through tutor demonstrations, explanations and guided playing. Participants work both as a group and individually, developing a repertoire of songs suited to the level while exploring harmonica techniques, breath control and basic music theory. Progress is assessed during lessons and through recordings submitted for tutor assessment. The course also introduces improvisation, including work towards playing a train song and other suitable repertoire.

The course is intended for absolute beginners, including those without previous harmonica experience. Learners play both individually and as part of a group, and are expected to complete activities outside class. Previous musical experience may be helpful but is not stated as required.
