About this course
This session surveys major turning points in India’s post-independence history, including Partition, nation-building, the Constitution, democratic development, political crises, conflict, regional identities and economic liberalisation. It considers how political, social and economic changes have influenced one another over time. Teaching combines an illustrated mini-lecture with guided discussion of key events and themes. Learners will also have opportunities to ask questions and reflect on India’s development as a diverse, democratic state.
