About this course

The course examines themes, characterisation and dramatic technique in The Glass Menagerie, The Judas Kiss and Sweat. Discussion considers each play’s social, cultural and historical contexts, original and later productions, critical reception, and relevant perspectives including queer theory and disability studies. Teaching combines tutor presentations with small- and whole-group discussion. Participants read selected scenes aloud to explore how dramatic effects operate on the page and in performance, while also considering casting, lighting, stage space and connections across the three texts.
