About this course

The course examines core mixing processes across different musical styles, including signal routing, panning, equalisation, compression, level balancing, effects and automation. Demonstrations and explanations introduce the techniques, while practical workshops and individual projects give learners opportunities to apply them. Class discussions focus on listening assignments, supported by lectures and audio-visual presentations. Topics include using EQ filters, managing dynamics with compression, choosing reverb and delay, and shaping clarity and separation within a mix.

Is this course right for you?

This Improver-level course is intended for learners with some home studio experience and an ability to navigate music production software such as Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase or Ableton. Basic computer skills, including file management, are also listed among the entry requirements. Support with Apple computers is available during class.
