About this course

The course introduces programme-making through interviewing, scriptwriting, presenting and audio editing. Participants work with standard radio equipment and Adobe Audition to record, edit and clean audio for radio programmes and podcasts. Teaching combines practical workshops with discussions of listening assignments, lectures, audiovisual presentations, and group and individual projects. Course content is presented live on air as part of a Morley Radio takeover.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners with a strong interest in radio and does not require previous radio experience. It involves group and individual projects, homework and presenting produced material live on air. Basic computer and file-management skills are expected, while access to a recording setup outside class is strongly recommended.

Before you go

• Homework is required.
• Learners are strongly encouraged to bring ear plugs because the course may involve high volume levels.
• Bring a pen and paper for notes and a USB memory stick for saving work.
• Access to a computer outside class is recommended, along with a basic recording setup including a computer, audio interface, recording software and microphone.
• A portable recorder may be useful but is not essential.
• Handouts and other course materials are provided.
