Solo Singing: Beginners to Intermediate

About this course

The course develops vocal foundations through systematic physical and vocal warm-ups, including work on posture, breathing, resonance, projection, pitch, range and agility. Learners study varied solo repertoire, exploring interpretation, musical features and singing with piano accompaniment. Class members take short turns performing for their peers, extending their listening and performance skills through tutor feedback. The course also addresses basic musicianship, including some awareness of musical notation, with practice targets and additional resources suggested where appropriate.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for relative beginners through to intermediate singers. Learners should be able to sing in tune and be reasonably comfortable singing to a small group. Previous choir or solo singing experience and music reading may be helpful but are not required. It also suits people returning to singing after time away.
