About this course
The course traces the Cold War from tensions between the Soviet Union and the West before the end of the Second World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Topics include the division of Europe, Berlin, the arms race, the Cuban Missile Crisis, conflicts in Korea and Vietnam, dissent in Eastern Europe, and Cold War involvement across other regions. Illustrated lectures use maps and images, alongside translated texts from the period. Class discussions and opportunities for questions form part of the teaching.
