About this course
The course focuses exclusively on making ceramics on the wheel. Participants work through throwing and trimming sessions before glazing selected pieces with standard glazes. A further session covers Raku glazing and firing, using special glazes and a Raku kiln, while other work is fired in regular electric kilns. Teaching is structured across several sessions, allowing participants to develop wheel-throwing techniques and follow their pieces through preparation, glazing and firing.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for beginners as well as learners with some previous experience, making it suitable for a mixed-level group. Participants should be able to attend as many of the scheduled sessions as possible so they can follow the course sequence.

Before you go
- Pieces made during the course are fired in regular electric kilns, except for selected pieces going into the Raku kiln.
- Around three to four pieces can be fired using the Raku process.
- Raku pieces are glazed with special glazes during the Raku glazing and firing session.
