About this course

The course introduces ballet through posture, alignment and awareness of how the body moves. Learners practise the five basic positions of the feet and arms, alongside essential vocabulary such as plié, tendu and relevé. Classes include introductory barre work, including pliés and tendus, followed by simple centre exercises. Participants work on coordination, balance, timing and moving in rhythm with music through a steady, structured programme.

What you'll learn

  • Demonstrate the five basic ballet positions with appropriate alignment and posture.
  • Perform a short barre sequence including plié and tendu with coordination and control.
  • Use at least eight basic ballet terms accurately.
  • Move in time with music during simple centre exercises.
