About this course
The course develops foundational ballet technique without a barre, using seated and supine floor work to examine alignment, placement, turnout, core engagement and coordination. Learners practise fundamental floor barre exercises, simple movement patterns and controlled leg articulation in parallel and turned-out positions. Teaching also introduces ballet vocabulary, the role of major muscle groups in floor barre and the relationship between anatomy and healthy dance practice. Exercises are set to music at different tempos, with historical references providing context for ballet and related movement traditions.
What you'll learn

- Control turnout and articulate the legs in parallel and turned-out positions
- Use ten key ballet technical terms accurately
- Maintain timing while performing exercises at two musical tempos
