About this course
The course develops reading strategies using everyday materials such as messages, letters, forms, leaflets, stories, articles and simple reports. Learners practise identifying main ideas and key details, working out meaning from context, rereading for understanding and building relevant vocabulary. Teaching combines individual-paced work with tutor guidance, discussion and opportunities to present ideas and respond to others. The course also introduces punctuation, technical vocabulary and literary devices used in written texts.
