Crime fiction reading group

About this course

The group meets in person each month to discuss a chosen crime novel, beginning with Blacktop Wasteland. Sessions consider how the genre has changed over time and examine issues including character, gender and class. Discussion focuses on the merits and wider implications of each text, with members selecting a novel for the next meeting. Participants are expected to read the selected book in advance and contribute their views to the group’s analysis.

Is this course right for you?

The course is open to all levels and does not require previous literature knowledge or experience. It is intended for people who enjoy reading crime fiction and are willing to prepare between monthly meetings by reading the selected novel. Participation involves group discussion and listening to other learners’ responses.
