About this course

The course develops digital skills for everyday communication, accessing information, organisation and work-related tasks. Learners practise navigating Office 365, creating simple Word documents and PowerPoint presentations, managing email, and using Microsoft Teams for messages, calls and online meetings. Teaching takes place in a classroom through practical activities and guided support. Topics also include safe online searching, digital responsibility and using technology to support communication and employment-related tasks. Progress is assessed through a portfolio showing achievement of personalised learning goals.

This course is for SEND learners developing beyond the earliest introduction to computers. The provider identifies it as suitable for learners who have completed relevant introductory digital courses or already have good basic computer skills. Participation is classroom-based and involves guided practical activities.

Before you go

  • Learners must complete an initial assessment using MS Forms or a hard-copy form and return it to Supported Learning.
  • An interview with a member of the Supported Learning team is part of the process.
