Drawing: Intimate Dramas of Mood and Colour

About this course

Participants draw from a model while examining how feeling may be conveyed through facial features and gestures. The course focuses on colour and combinations of media, allowing learners to investigate how different materials can express subtle changes in mood. Work is developed through observation of the model’s appearance and physical cues, with attention to the relationship between colour, mark-making and emotional suggestion.

Before you go

• Easels, drawing boards, charcoal, newsprint and masking tape are provided in the studio.
• Cartridge and watercolour paper are provided; a paper fee is included at booking.
• Learners are encouraged to bring additional materials for personal use, such as drawing pencils, Conté crayons, pastels, ink pens, coloured pencils, erasers, a sharpener or a sketchbook.
• A full suggested materials list is sent one week before the course begins.
