About this course

This course develops the language needed to explain ideas, give opinions and respond to other viewpoints in everyday and work-related situations. Learners work with discussions, debates and texts about subjects including community life, the environment, technology and everyday experiences. Activities combine speaking, listening, reading and writing. Learners practise organising ideas, giving reasons, comparing situations and writing short opinion texts, while exploring linkers, comparatives, superlatives and conditionals in context.

What you'll learn

  • Express opinions and give reasons using linkers such as “because”, “however” and “so”.
  • Compare ideas and situations using comparatives and superlatives.
  • Participate in group discussions using turn-taking and language for agreement and disagreement.
  • Identify key ideas and opinions in articles, reports and online texts.
  • Write clear opinion paragraphs using topic sentences and supporting details.
  • Discuss possible situations and solutions using conditionals.

Is this course right for you?

Listed at Beginner (A1), the course is intended for learners developing foundational English for everyday and work-related discussions. Participation includes group discussions and debates alongside reading and writing tasks, making this a mixed-skills course rather than speaking practice alone.
