Fine Art Mentoring Course

About this course

Participants develop their own fine art practice through individual tutorials, group critiques, workshops, seminars and lectures. They bring current work to sessions for discussion and feedback, while visiting contemporary artists contribute talks, teaching and perspectives on professional practice. The programme also includes opportunities to lead peer workshops, take part in collaborative projects and continue discussions between sessions through online platforms. Work is developed towards a group exhibition at Morley Gallery.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for advanced practitioners with an Art Foundation, art degree or equivalent experience, supported by a strong portfolio. Entry is through an interview with recent work or photographs, including sketchbooks. It may also suit artists returning to their practice after time away, with participation involving both individual tutorials and group activities.

• Basic computer skills are expected for sharing materials and online peer discussions.
• Applicants whose spoken language is not English should have an IELTS score of at least 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Before you go

• The studios are accessible by stairs or lift.
• Participants should bring examples of their work to tutorials for discussion and feedback.
• Paper and a pen are useful for taking notes.
• A smartphone or camera may be useful for recording work, and materials and links can be shared through Microsoft Teams.
