At A1 French, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

About this course
The course introduces French gradually through personal information, introductions, food and drink, jobs, nationalities, and classroom language. Learners work with subject pronouns, articles, adjectives, question words, negation, numbers up to 100, and the present tense of être, avoir, and regular -er verbs. Teaching covers all four language skills, with particular emphasis on speaking and listening. Activities include practising spoken French, improving understanding of spoken language, retaining vocabulary, and recognising common French sounds. Cultural content includes famous French people and French people living abroad.
