Glass: Intermediate and Advanced Fusing

About this course

Participants develop fused and slumped glass projects using layered compositions and decorative materials including frits, powders, stringers, confetti and inclusions. The course covers kiln processes, firing schedules and techniques for producing both functional and decorative pieces. Teaching is project-based, with attention to design decisions, technical precision and diagnosing problems arising during firing or construction. Learners also consider how to develop an individual creative approach through their projects.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners working beyond introductory glass fusing. Participants should have completed an introductory course or have equivalent experience with basic glass cutting, kiln safety and fusing techniques. Learning is organised around individual projects.

• Prior experience with the basic principles of glass fusing is expected
• Equivalent experience may be accepted in place of an introductory course
