About this course
This advanced course develops productive, receptive and conversational BSL across employment, education, health, society, science, technology, media and culture. It also introduces sign linguistics knowledge relevant to using extended language in work and social contexts. Teaching may combine classroom interaction, paired and group activities, role play, presentations, debates, discussions, research, video-based receptive practice and individual feedback. Progress is recorded through formative discussions before three externally assessed units: a presentation, an informal conversation and a receptive skills assessment.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners who have completed Signature’s BSL Level 3 examination or an equivalent qualification and have been recommended for Level 4. An interview assesses signing before enrolment. Participants should also be able to read instructions and write self-evaluations and notes.
- A Level 3 BSL certificate or equivalent is required for the interview.
- The course includes pair and group work, presentations, discussions and role play.
- A considerable amount of study outside class is expected.

- A smartphone is required for filming, research and accessing Google Classroom.
- Course resources are uploaded to Google Classroom through a student account, with Google Drive available for an e-portfolio.
