About this course
The course examines poetry by queer writers from different periods and perspectives, considering how poems can function as forms of witness, protest or consolation. Participants will study poets’ approaches, listen to discussions of poetic practice and experiment with ways of developing their own work. Teaching combines tutor-led and small-group discussion, in-class writing exercises, workshop readings, tutor feedback and wider class discussion. The course is intended to generate new poetic material while extending learners’ understanding of queer poetry and its techniques.
