About this course

The course introduces key jewellery-making techniques, including piercing, filing, drilling, texturing, annealing, forming, soldering and polishing. Demonstrations and handouts are combined with individual practice so learners can apply techniques during the sessions. Beginners work through foundational skills, while those with previous experience can develop existing abilities, learn further techniques and work on individual projects. Teaching takes place both as a group and through individual guidance from the tutor.

Before you go

  • All tools and equipment needed for jewellery making are supplied.
  • Materials for the first session are provided; learners must supply their own metal and sundries such as saw blades after that.
  • The tutor will advise during the first session on required materials and where to obtain them.
  • A sketchbook is encouraged for notes, handouts, images and designs.
  • Closed shoes must be worn for health and safety reasons.
