About this course
The course examines how Romanticism developed in different countries, considering academic traditions, social change and the influence of Edmund Burke. It then focuses on Goya, using analysis of significant paintings and prints to explore changes in his style and subject matter, his response to a changing world, and his relationship with the artistic establishment. Teaching combines lecture material, slide presentations and group discussion.
