About this course

The course examines the Atlantic Ocean as a strategic focus of contemporary international relations. It considers the political actors and regional powers influencing the region, alongside global trade, military strategy and environmental challenges. Relationships between the Americas, Europe and Africa are also explored, with attention to the Atlantic’s present significance and future prospects. Teaching combines lectures, discussion, in-class work and question-and-answer sessions. Participants discuss how global politics is shaped by the Atlantic and its connections across regions.
