About this course

The course explores the methods historians use to investigate the past, including written, visual, recorded, material and digital sources. It considers how historical writing has developed from the ancient Greeks to public history, television and podcasts, including the ways present-day perspectives can reshape interpretations of the past. Interactive lectures and class activities also introduce research practice, bibliography construction, footnotes and ways to present findings in essays or dissertations, with some work set outside class.
