About this course

The session introduces the structure and history of Old English script, with demonstrations of the letterforms and guidance on using a dip pen with ink. Participants practise through exercises designed to refine their writing and develop a complete Old English alphabet. Teaching combines group and individual demonstrations with time for individual practice, supported by written hand-outs.

The course is intended for complete beginners as well as learners who want to extend their knowledge of calligraphy scripts. Participants should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions used in demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety guidance.
