Upholstery: make your own soft furnishings (beginners)

About this course

Participants learn to plan and make a small soft-furnishing project, working with fabrics and practising accurate measuring and cutting. The course covers sewing-machine use, hand stitching, seams, hems, zips and simple finishes such as piping. Teaching takes place in a workshop with tutor guidance. Alongside construction techniques, learners are introduced to relevant tools, equipment and basic technical vocabulary, enabling them to follow instructions and assess their finished work.
