About this course

The course centres on observational drawing in the life room, using sustained attention to develop drawings from direct observation. It examines how formal concerns in drawing can connect with expressive possibilities, allowing participants to consider both structure and interpretation within their work. The course is open to artists, creatives and image-makers across a range of experience levels, including beginners.

Before you go

• Easels, drawing boards, charcoal, newsprint and masking tape are provided.
• Cartridge and watercolour paper are provided in the studio.
• Participants may bring additional personal materials, such as pencils, Conté crayons, pastels, ink pens, coloured pencils, erasers, a sharpener or a sketchbook.
• A full materials list is provided one week before the course begins.
