About this course
This accelerated course develops spoken French through lessons taught primarily in French. Learners take part in group discussions, role-plays and practical exercises while working with vocabulary and grammar for describing places, discussing hobbies and family, giving directions and reacting to news. The course also covers articles, adjective agreement, possessive and demonstrative adjectives, prepositions of place, transport expressions, question forms, tonic pronouns, and the recent past and near future. Teaching is led by experienced teachers, with lesson notes, summaries and additional study resources included.
What you'll learn
- Describe places and ask for or give directions using appropriate prepositions and transport expressions
- Discuss hobbies, family and news using relevant vocabulary and common verbs
- Form questions with Qu’est-ce que… and use on, faire and jouer in context
- Apply articles, possessive and demonstrative adjectives, and adjective agreement
- Distinguish between c’est and ce sont and the forms of il est, elle est, ils sont and elles sont
- Use the recent past, near future and tonic pronouns in French
Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners who have already started French, typically after completing Levels 1 and 2 or at least 24 class hours. Its twice-weekly format suits learners able to maintain a faster study pace and participate in group discussions and role-plays. Learners with other previous French knowledge may be better placed after taking a placement test.
