About this course

The course introduces and develops pottery techniques across hand building, wheel throwing, surface decoration and glazing. Each week centres on a different technique, with time set aside for practice and experimentation. Learners can work at their own pace within a focused class environment, developing techniques through guided making and independent practice. As the course joins an existing programme part-way through, the provider recommends prior experience in both wheel throwing and hand building.

What you'll learn

• Use hand-building techniques to construct pottery forms
• Practise throwing vessels on the pottery wheel
• Apply surface decoration techniques to clay
• Glaze finished pottery using the available glazes

• All course materials, tools, slips, moulds and glazes are provided.
• Clay is charged by the kilogram for pieces that learners want fired.
