About this course
The course introduces clay preparation and studio safety before developing hand-building skills through pinching, coiling, slab building, joining and scoring. It then moves to wheel work, including centring clay, pulling walls, shaping cylinders, bowls and cups, and trimming thrown pieces. Decorative work includes slips and sgraffito, followed by an introduction to glazing. Each session begins with new techniques taught as a group, after which participants practise at their own pace and continue developing pieces across hand-building and wheel methods.
