About this course
This workshop combines introductory and Level 2 photography topics, moving from digital capture and camera settings to composition, perspective, colour temperature and flash. Participants explore resolution, file formats, lenses, focusing, exposure, metering, depth of field, motion and picture styles, then work with aperture and shutter priority, scene modes, white balance and themed photography. Teaching combines theory with practical work. Projects take place both on location with an instructor and independently as assignments, giving participants opportunities to apply camera techniques to people, places and other photographic subjects.
What you'll learn
- Operate key camera controls, including manual focus, autofocus, ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
- Select lenses and focal lengths to manage perspective, framing and depth of field.
- Use metering modes and manual exposure settings to control image capture.
- Apply techniques for freezing, blurring and panning movement.
- Adjust white balance and picture styles for different lighting and image treatments.
- Explore composition, themed photography and introductory flash techniques.
