About this course
The course examines radiance-field production from image capture through post-production and publication. Learners create photorealistic scenes using approaches including Gaussian splatting, neural radiance fields, single- and multi-camera capture, camera arrays, cross-polarisation and turntable void methods. Teaching combines technical instruction with practical exercises and homework. Software covered includes Unreal Engine, RealityCapture, PostShot and NerfStudio, alongside the creative and 3D workflows used to develop finished work. Applications discussed include products, performers, vehicles, buildings and neighbourhoods.
What you'll learn
- Capture photorealistic 3D and 4D radiance field scenes
- Apply different indoor and outdoor capture methods, including multi-camera and turntable techniques
- Use Gaussian splatting and neural radiance field approaches
- Operate relevant 3D and radiance-field software within a post-production workflow
- Develop radiance-field work from initial capture through to publication
Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for photographers, videographers, creatives and entrepreneurs working at beginner to advanced levels. Photogrammetry experience may be helpful but is not essential. Participation includes practical exercises, homework and independent radiance-field capture work outside class.
- Suitable for learners with interests spanning photography, video, art, design, advertising, journalism, sport or performance
- Requires independent work on personal radiance-field captures outside class
