5 Day Carpentry

About this course

This beginner-level course develops practical carpentry and joinery skills through structured project work. Participants make joints such as halving and mortise and tenon joints, then apply measuring, marking out, sawing, planing, chiselling, sanding and hammering to larger tasks. Projects cover elements including a two-panel door, stud partition wall, door frame, floor joists, plasterboard, architrave and skirting. The emphasis is on using hand tools rather than theory, with advice available on learners’ own projects or building plans.

What you'll learn

• Make and fit a door with hinges, a lock, handles and associated trim.
