About this course

The course develops wheel-throwing skills through a sequence of guided sessions. Participants begin by centring clay and pulling cylinders, then explore shaping clay into bowls and more complex forms. Later sessions cover turning finished work and applying a selection of house glazes. Each participant works at an individual potter’s wheel, with the class limited to 10 attendees.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners who already have some experience working on the wheel and want to develop their throwing in more specific areas. The provider advises that participants should feel comfortable centring 1kg of clay and pulling walls evenly. Teaching takes place in a group of up to 10.

• Previous wheel-throwing experience is expected
• Participants work individually at their own wheel

Before you go

• A dedicated potter’s wheel is provided for each attendee.
• Participants can expect to keep approximately 8 to 10 pieces, depending on the results of their throwing.
• Thrown work can be glazed using a selection of house glazes.
