8-week Full Ceramics Course

About this course

The course introduces ceramics through a combination of hand-building and wheel techniques. Participants begin with clay preparation, studio safety, pinching, coiling, slab building, joining and scoring, before progressing to centring clay, forming cylinders, cups and bowls, and trimming thrown pieces. Further making includes hump moulds, pulled handles and decorative work using slips and sgraffito. New techniques are introduced as a group, followed by time to practise independently and develop several pieces. The course concludes with an introduction to glazing.
