About this course

The course develops wheel-throwing skills through structured exercises and teacher guidance. Participants work on forming cylinders, footed bowls, plates and lidded vessels, alongside techniques such as repetition throwing, pulling handles and creating lips. As the course progresses, learners can work on individual projects and ask questions related to their development. The course also introduces surface decoration, with time later on for continued wheel practice or project work.

Is this course right for you?

The course is open to learners of all abilities, while its early sessions are aimed at developing beginner throwing skills. It combines guided exercises with time for individual projects and questions, making it suitable for learners who want structured instruction alongside independent wheel practice.

• Teaching takes place in a small group of up to eight learners.

Before you go

• Learners can glaze their work for collection.
• If they choose to continue practising at the wheel in the later sessions, pieces can instead be bisque fired for collection.
• Participants on the eight-week course receive booking access to optional drop-in sessions for additional studio time outside class hours.
