About this course

Participants develop their acting through rehearsed script and scene work, dramatic improvisation, and physical approaches to text and character. The course explores Stanislavski, Laban and Chekhov alongside vocal exercises focused on clarity, projection and emotional nuance. Work is shaped through direction, rehearsal and personalised feedback, culminating in an in-class performance presented to peers. Ensemble practice includes listening and responding to scene partners, while improvisation is used to deepen characterisation and explore more complex material.

What you'll learn

  • Rehearse and perform a scene under direction
  • Apply Stanislavski, Laban and Chekhov techniques to acting work
  • Use physical approaches to explore text and character
  • Refine vocal clarity, projection and emotional expression
  • Develop characterisation through advanced improvisation
  • Strengthen ensemble skills when working with scene partners

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for intermediate actors with substantial prior training, specifically those who have completed at least two Acting Improvers courses or equivalent vocational study. The format involves demanding collaborative work, rehearsal and performance in front of peers.

  • Previous acting training or equivalent experience is required
  • Suitable for learners ready to work on complex texts and emotional material
  • Includes directed performance and collaborative ensemble practice

Before you go

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement.
  • Bring a notebook for script and rehearsal notes.
  • Scripts are provided and scene assignments are set by the tutor, so no monologue or scene preparation is required before starting.
