Acting: scenework

About this course

These sessions use practical group, pair and individual work to develop acting through scripted material. Participants analyse text, investigate character, relationships and the world of the play, and rehearse scenes using group exercises informed by different acting methodologies and practitioners. The course continues work on stagecraft fundamentals and culminates in an in-class presentation of a memorised scene or monologue to the group.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improvers who have completed a beginners course or have suitable acting experience. Participation involves working individually, in pairs and in groups, with the possibility of rigorous physical activity during some sessions.

Before you go

• Some preparation and line learning is required between classes.
• Wear comfortable clothing.
• Bring a pencil and rubber for annotating scripts; a notebook and pen may also be useful.
