Acting Summer School

About this course

The course introduces several areas of acting through workshops and masterclasses. Participants work on character, objectives, script analysis, taking direction and scene rehearsal, alongside screen technique using camera playback. Voice sessions cover breath, articulation, projection and vocal range, while movement work explores physical storytelling, body alignment and presence. The programme also includes improvisation, musical theatre and an introduction to safe, choreographed stage combat. Teaching combines practical exercises, tutor feedback and rehearsal, leading to an informal sharing of selected scenes.

What you'll learn

• Apply acting techniques to character development, objectives, script analysis and scene work.
• Use camera technique, including marks, framing, eyelines and playback, when performing for screen.
• Develop vocal control through breath, support, articulation, projection and vocal range.
• Use movement, body alignment and physical storytelling in performance.
• Practise improvisation principles such as listening, offers and acceptance.
• Apply basic safety and partner-awareness techniques in choreographed stage combat.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for complete beginners as well as learners with some performance experience who want to refresh or develop their skills. Participation includes ensemble work, physical sessions, scene rehearsal and an informal sharing.

Before you go

• Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and suitable footwear.
