About this course
The workshop develops acting through warm-ups, character exercises and work on spontaneity, presence and truthful responses in performance. Participants analyse scripts, explore stagecraft and rehearse scenes from plays, working across individual, paired and group activities. Teaching includes text analysis and practical rehearsal, with scenes developed towards performance. The course also introduces approaches to building and sustaining a character while working with direction and feedback.

Is this course right for you?
This improvers class is intended for learners who have completed a beginners course or have suitable acting experience. Participants work individually, in pairs and in groups, and are expected to engage with scripts, discussion, instructions and constructive feedback. Some sessions may involve rigorous physical activity.
- Previous beginners’ training or suitable experience is required
- Participants should be comfortable reading and responding to texts
- The course involves collaborative work in pairs and groups
- Lines may need to be learned outside class
Before you go
- Wear comfortable clothing and soft shoes.
- Bring a pencil and rubber for annotating scripts.
- A notebook and pen may also be useful.
- Sessions may sometimes involve rigorous activity; learners with concerns should consult a medical practitioner.
