About this course

This workshop explores how commercial dressmaking patterns can be adjusted for a closer fit. Using a fitted bodice as the base, participants refine bodice shaping, customise necklines and alter sleeves. A gathered skirt section allows the main focus to remain on bodice adjustments. Participants create a toile to test the changes and finish with an adjusted pattern for later cutting and sewing. The workshop addresses fit issues including narrow shoulders, tight armholes and gaping necklines.

The course is intended for intermediate learners who are proficient machine stitchers and already have experience using sewing patterns. Participation focuses on testing and refining bodice alterations through a toile, rather than learning introductory sewing techniques.

Before you go
