About this course

Participants perform several times each term in a performance space with two grand pianos, receiving detailed feedback from the tutor on their playing. Sessions generally feature three student performances, with the wider class listening, commenting and contributing to discussion. Studying a broad range of repertoire through observation of other performers forms part of the course. There are also opportunities for public performance, alongside work on interpretation, technique and communication. Students are expected to practise independently between classes and contribute to reviewing their progress.

What you'll learn

  • Demonstrate artistic interpretation and technical authority in performance
  • Broaden knowledge of piano repertoire
  • Gain experience of class and public performance
  • Contribute to discussions about performances and communicate musical ideas
  • Collaborate constructively within the class
